Enva Award 2

Futures Housing Group has won an award for its dedication to proper waste management and reducing its carbon footprint.

Futures, which manages nearly 10,000 homes across the region, has been recognised by recycling experts Enva for its approach to waste management as part of its Love Recycling awards.

The housing association has also retained its ISO 14001 certificate for committing to environmentally friendly business practices.

Suki Jandu, Group Director, Customer Experience and Assets at Futures, said: “We’re delighted to have been recognised by Enva for our commitment to recycling and responsible waste management.

“It’s important to us that we reduce our impact on the environment. Our retention of the ISO 14001 certificate further demonstrates our commitment to being a cleaner, greener organisation.”

Since Futures began its partnership with Enva in October 2018, 66 tonnes of waste has been recycled at Futures’ Leabrooks Depot, with a further 26 tonnes being recycled at Enva’s plant.

This effort has resulted in just 0.8 percent of Futures’ total waste going to a landfill site.

Paul Clements, Commercial Director for Enva, said: ““In the relatively short time that Futures has been working with Enva, they’ve shown an outstanding commitment to waste and resource management. This includes the introduction of carbon reduction and segregation targets, extensive on-site segregation and employee waste training.

“We were excited by the outstanding nominations we received and the standard for winners was once again very high. Being selected is an excellent achievement and truly shows Futures’ dedication and hard work in reducing its impact on the environment.”
