A Derbyshire social group has received a £400 donation thanks to the quick thinking of one of its members.

Futures Housing Group customer Margaret Green, celebrating her 80th birthday, was chosen for the donation by J Tomlinson after she granted access to her property at the first time of asking to complete a full gas safety check.

Mrs Green arranged for the donation to be made to the Pennytown Friendship Group, based in Somercotes who tackle social isolation for residents in the area.

Mrs Green said: “It means a lot, thank you. We can have some entertainment, go out for meals and put the money towards other activities.

“We go out for meals, day trips, play bingo and all sorts. It helps a lot of people who are lonely or on their own.”

J Tomlinson makes several donations to community groups as part of their first time access incentive with Futures Housing Group. Futures Housing Group has a 100% record in carrying out gas safe checks in all of its 10,000 homes across the East Midlands.
