Coronavirus: what Futures is doing to support our community

The last few weeks have been challenging for all of us, and we wanted to provide an update on what Futures has been doing to support our communities during the lockdown. We’re proud of how our team has pulled together to make sure those who need it most are supported and provided for, and grateful to our customers for their understanding during the disruption coronavirus has caused.

We’ve been reaching out to elderly and vulnerable customers, making over 1,600 phone calls to check in and see if they’re okay. From these calls we’ve set up regular weekly phone calls with those who’d like them, and we’ve delivered over 100 care packages to people who need them. One customer was ‘overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness of the team pulling together’ after receiving a care package, and we’re working hard to get in touch with as many customers as possible to make sure no-one is lonely or going without. We’re proud to be supporting our communities and hope to be in touch with many more of our customers to offer them the help they need.

Our repairs team has been operating on an emergency only basis, working around the clock to make sure our customers are safe in their homes. When they’re not dealing with emergencies they’ve been getting empty homes ready for their new tenants, so we can welcome them to their new homes as soon as it’s possible to start up the moving process again.

As well as their usual work supporting customers with existing aids and adaptations, the Beep Assist team has gone above and beyond to add extra layers of safety and reassurance from a safe social distance. Coronavirus has caused many sources of support for vulnerable people to close, which has naturally led to increased concern from relatives and a higher need to put measures in place that protect customers while making sure they can still live independently. From providing GPS tracking devices to installing additional fire safety measures, Beep Assist has been providing a real lifeline to customers, and their families, across our network.
