Futures to build 24 brand new homes in Derbyshire village

A growing housing provider has signed off a £2.5m contract to deliver 24 brand new homes in the former colliery village of Stonebroom.

Futures Housing Group, which manages around 9,100 homes throughout the East Midlands, is using funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and working with Partner Construction Ltd. on the new development.

Futures was granted planning approval by North East Derbyshire District Council to build 24 two and three bedroom, quality, affordable homes. A further six homes for sale will be built on site for Rykneld Homes.

Alan Boucker, Futures’ Director of Development and investment, said: “Futures is extremely pleased to be investing £147m in developing around 1,000 new properties throughout the East Midlands by 2020 so people can afford to live and work in the areas in which they grew up.

“We are committed to ensuring our developments offer a wider range of choice to different types of home-seeker and we are confident that our Carlyle Road development will provide attractive, high quality, affordable homes as well as homes for sale.”

Work is scheduled to start in May and should be ready for occupants in March 2018. The site is made up of seven, two-bedroom bungalows, 19 two-bedroom homes and four three-bedroom homes.

Chris Loizou, Head of Development Midlands at Partner Construction, said: “We are delighted to be starting work on this development in Stonebroom in partnership with Futures Housing Group and Rykneld Homes.

“This scheme is integral to support the future economic growth in the area and it will provide much needed housing for local people.”

Futures Housing Group completed a company-record year of house building in March 2017, creating 195 new homes as it ramps up its plans to build more.
