A record-breaking year of development, innovative approaches to work and communications and supporting customers have put an East Midlands landlord in the award spotlight.

Futures Housing Group, which manages more than 9,100 properties across the region, is up for two awards being announced next month.

After developing a company record of 171 homes in 2015/16, the Group has been shortlisted alongside local government heavyweight Birmingham City Council and East Midlands Homes Group in the Insider Midlands Property Awards in the social housing provider of the year category.

As part of its award submission, the group highlighted its expansion to offer more than just homes, citing growing social enterprise, Futures Greenscape, and employability programme Futures Gateway.

The winner of the award will be revealed on 8 June.

Marcus Keys, Futures’ Group Business Growth and Transformation Director, said: “It’s an honour to be shortlisted in this category for the work we are doing to support people onto the housing ladder.

“We’re committed to supporting people across the East Midlands, and our employability programme and social enterprise help us to achieve this alongside our core business of providing homes.”

Meanwhile, the Group’s communications team has also made it to the final of the housing hero awards in the Communications team of the year category.

The team will go up against 10 other housing associations for the award, which will be announced on 26 June.

The shortlisting follow’s the team’s success at the Public Sector Communications Awards in 2016.

Marcus added: “Our small team has delivered some great results over the last year. To feature as a finalist up against some of the largest housing associations in the country is a great testament to the team’s work.”

Over the last year, Futures has featured on 11 award shortlists across a host of sectors from finance and risk management to apprenticeships and procurement. Top spot was claimed by the organisation in three.
