Walkabout Wednesdays

Walkabout Wednesdays are a regular event that helps us identify areas of our neighbourhoods that need improving.

It’s a great way for us to improve the quality and appearance of your neighbourhoods and spot opportunities for future investment.

Since we started Walkabout Wednesdays, 26 areas have been through the various phases of the Walkabouts with many achieving sustained improvements for the community.

What are our objectives?

  • Be proactive and inspect areas on a phased basis
  • Increase visibility of our team members
  • Engage with local residents in the community
  • Identify and address problems with the external environment and internal common areas
  • Work with local partners to make improvements
  • Influence decisions about investment
  • Support our Neighbourhood Strategy and Neighbourhood Plans.

What types of issues are looked at?

  • Litter
  • Graffiti
  • Vandalism
  • External common areas
  • Internal common areas
  • Over all appearance of area
  • Condition of footpaths, roads, fences, boundaries and gardens
  • Unauthorised parking.

We will address issues identified on communal land or property and feedback to local tenants if there are constraints. Issues which are the responsibility of another agency such as the borough council or county council will be passed to those agencies to address.

When is the next Walkabout Wednesday?
