Kath celebrates a century
We joined a local resident to mark a very special birthday.
Kath Hales from Neather Heage celebrated with Futures Homescape as she turned 100 on April 3.
Kath has lived at the Futures Homescape sheltered housing scheme in Neather Heage since 1992.
She grew up in the area before marrying her husband Joseph in 1938.
Kath worked at Rolls Royce while Joseph served in the airforce, and the couple later lived at Crich Lane in Belper.
The couple’s son, Richard, was born in 1946, after which Kath worked at Jaeger, first as a mender and later as a trainer. After 28 years at Jaeger she retired, aged 74..jpg)
Kath now enjoys listening to talking books and also attends The Gleeb Day Centre at Crich every week.
Tracey Smith, neighbourhood support co-ordinator with Futures Homescape, said: “Kath is a lovely lady and we were delighted to be able to share in her special day.”
