Where large scale adaptations to your property are required we may discuss with you the option of moving to a property that has already been adapted to suit your needs.
What are aids and adaptations?
Adaptations are fixed alterations to your home to help you with day-to-day tasks.
Aids refer to items of equipment that also help you. They are not usually permanently fixed. They range from small items like grab rails, handrails, lever taps and cupboard handles, to major ones like stair lifts, showers, concrete access ramps and bathing hoists.
Who can apply?
Anyone who is a tenant of Daventry & District Housing and whose disabilities or specific needs prevent them from leading an independent lifestyle.
How does it work?
DDH is committed to improving the service we provide to all our disabled customers.
Arrangements will be made for an assessment of your home and your needs. Once we have the assessment recommendations we will work with you to decide on the most suitable options available for you and what is possible within the property in which you live.
If major work is required we will ascertain a cost to carry out the work required. If the cost of works is above £1,500 we may need you to acquire additional funding for the project from the local authority or you maybe asked to contribute personally depending on your circumstances. Although application for funding can be prolonged DDH will support you throughout and will aim to provide alternative adaptations which will help you remain in your home.
Timescales
For minor adaptations we have target time of:
- Two working days for minor hospital discharge/critical needs
- 14 days for all other minor works
